To protect the integrity of client information and ensure full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), it is necessary to enforce stricter controls on how policy amendments are requested and processed. A key principle of POPIA is that personal information may only be accessed and amended by the individual to whom it belongs. This means that only the Main Member may make changes to a policy.
OVERVIEW
Effective immediately, no policy amendments will be accepted unless they are requested directly by the Main Member of the policy. This includes changes to personal details, additions or removals or correction of beneficiaries and updates to contact or banking information.
This measure ensures: ● Compliance with the POPI Act, which mandates that personal data may not be processed without consent from the data subject (Main Member). ● Protection against unauthorized access or fraudulent alterations to sensitive client information. ● Accuracy and traceability in our policy management and documentation. All staff members are required to verify the identity of the Main Member before proceeding with any requested changes by requesting an ID or a driver’s license. Requests made by third parties must not be processed under any circumstances. Please ensure that this directive is strictly followed. Failure to do so may result in non-compliance with legal regulations and compromise the trust of our clients. For any clarification, kindly contact Kulani Shitelana in Queries: Insurance Administration Department.
Warm regards, Promise Ramatseba Insurance Admin Supervisor
