Reason for Memorandum:

We are writing to inform you of some important changes and updates to our policies and benefits that will take effect immediately. Please ensure that this information is communicated clearly to all relevant staff members and customers.

FINE SYSTEM

⮚ There will be no FINE system anymore. If a person is 30 or 60 days in arrears he MUST pay at the counter for the outstanding months. No fine payment is necessary.

⮚ 90 days will still count as a lapsed policy and the customer will be acknowledged as a private and will be liable for full payment of the funeral.

X FROM ANOTHER SOCIETY

⮚ Eligibility for Shared Benefit with a Wisani/NLA Funeral Plan:

  • Applicability: Clients who switched from another burial society. This benefit is applicable to funeral plan members only.

  • Timeframe: The client can claim a Shared Benefit within the first 30 days of joining Wisani/NLA.

  • Premium Payment Timing: The client must have paid the first premium for the funeral plan before the date of death.

⮚ If a customer switches their Top-Up Plan, there will also be a 3-month waiting period.

⮚ For customers switching their Tombstone Plan, the waiting period will vary depending on the duration for which they have paid their Tombstone Plan, for example:

  • a. If proof of 6 months' payment can be presented, there will be no waiting period.

  • b. If proof of 2 months' payment can be presented, there will be a 4- month waiting period.

CLAIMS

⮚ The occurrence of the Insured Event must be reported in writing within 12 (twelve) months of such occurrence.

⮚ If for any reason whatsoever notice of claim following the occurrence of the Insured Event under this Policy is not given within the period of 12 (twelve) months, all Policy benefits under this Policy in respect of such claim shall be forfeited and the claim shall not be honoured.
