Change to Trade-In Benefit, Top-Up Claims & R750 Tent-and-Chairs Discount (Effective 20 October 2025)

INTRODUCTION
To ensure stronger financial controls, compliance, and audit transparency, we are implementing changes to the way certain member benefits are paid out. These updates affect the processing of Trade-In Benefits, Top-Up Claims, and the Tent-and-Chairs Benefit. Please review the following guidelines carefully, effective Monday, 20 October 2025.
OVERVIEW
Trade-In Benefit (R3,400)
● The R3,400 will no longer be used as an automatic “trade-in” toward an upgrade.
● Instead, it must be paid into the member’s nominated bank account.
● If the member still wants to upgrade, they must pay the amount from their own account back to Wisani/NLA (normal upgrade payment process).
● Reason: Stronger paper trail for compliance and audit.
Required steps for staff
● Capture/verify the member’s nominated bank details per our standard verification process.
● Process the R3,400 payment to the member via Finance.
● If the member requests an upgrade, process a separate upgrade payment from the member’s account to Wisani/NLA (no trade-ins).
● Ensure all supporting documents are uploaded to the correct Google Drive Funeral Folder before any payment is actioned.
Top-Up Claims
● Same rule as above: Top-Up Claim payouts must be paid directly into the member’s nominated bank account (no internal trade-in to upgrades).
● Any subsequent upgrade must be paid separately by the member from their own account.
R750 Tent-and-Chairs Benefit (Discount Only)
● The R750 applies to upgrades only – i.e. casket, tombstone, or funeral upgrades.
● The R750 is a discount on the upgraded product at the point of upgrade.
● The R750 will not be paid into any nominated account (no cash-out).
● Society funerals: If the client does not upgrade, they do not qualify for the R750 discount—even if they decline the tent and chairs at home. In short: no upgrade = no R750 discount.
Required steps for staff
When processing an upgrade, apply the R750 discount to the upgrade price (no cash-out).
Reflect the discount correctly on the upgrade quotation/invoice and upload all documentation.
